What is an Accelerated Resolution Therapy Intensive?

An intensive format uses longer sessions over a shorter time period (say, 2-5 hours in a day or week’s time versus traditional 45-60 minute weekly therapy sessions). This dedicated length of time to work on your desired transformation gives us the flexibility to really dive in on specific issues that are keeping you stuck.

You’ll get a personalized tailored-for-you plan of action for your intensive.

Since we’ll have an extended length of time during our sessions, you won’t have to worry about opening up and having to hold back to “get it together” by the time

How do ART intensives in Orlando work?

1. 30 Minute Free Video Consultation

  • Here we’ll get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit to work together. Your deposit for your intensive will be collected before we schedule your first and following sessions (50% now, 50% the day of your first session).

  • You’ll also complete your personalized workbook before your pre intensive meeting.

2. Personalized Client Workbook

  • I’ll have a nice lil’ fill in the blank google doc workbook for you based on your specific goals for the intensive and knowing your history. This will be a great way for you to jumpstart the intensive process so that you can best prepare and get as much as you can out of our short time together.

3. 45 Minute Pre Intensive Session

  • This first session will dive into reviewing your goals and what you’d like to get out of the ART intensive. This will be a way to break the ice, let you ask any questions about ART, and design the process for your transformation.

4. Intensive Sessions

  • Each intensive session is 3 hours long, designed to help you dive deep into a specific issue and get un-stuck. You can schedule more than one intensive session (sometimes available in the same day). It’s best not to go over 2-3 intensive sessions in a week so that your brain and your nervous system can rest and recharge.

  • During the ART intensive, you’ll have breaks between eye movement sessions so that you can process any new information that becomes clear to you through ART.

5. 45 Minute Post Intensive Session

  • We’ll meet online for a follow-up session to discuss review the progress you’ve made by celebrating your wins and checking for any areas to improve. We’ll pull in everything you’ve learned and talk about how you’ll move forward with your new insights.

Why might an Accelerated Resolution Therapy Intensive be helpful?

Look I’m a big believer in regular online talk therapy as much as the next therapist, but that can be proven tough to be efficient for some situations. Specifically with stressful events or trauma.

When starting traditional therapy, you can spend the first 4-6 sessions just getting to know each other, the situation, and forming goals for treatment.

Some people drop out of traditional talk therapy early on because they feel like it isn’t working and progress is too slow.

With ART, you can see results as soon as the first session. An intensive can help move through quite a spectrum of emotions and new realizations about the situation all with the help of eye movements.

How Accelerated Resolution Therapy Intensives can be easy on your wallet, energy, and relationship

For the amount of traditional therapy to get the results you want (4-6 months worth) you can get the same impact and results within just a few days or weeks.

  • When we recall an emotional memory, it can be open to change. This happens a lot to our every day memories and we don’t even realize it.

    ART has you intentionally open up your memory to be more open to change that can relieve you from the troubling images, sensations, and the emotions that perpetuate your pain.

  • During an ART session, your therapist will sit directly in front of you and use their hand to guide you to visualize the traumatic event and create a new story. As your eyes move side to side you will be encouraged to think of your problem in the context of a “scene,” as if you were watching a movie clip.

    You imagine replacing images and sensations associated with the traumatic memory with your own choice of images and sensations that are more pleasing and positive. You will alternate between playing through your “scene” for short periods of time and using eye movements to calm physical sensations and emotions that arise when you think of your problem.

    As your brain visualizes the problem with eye movements, the way you think and feel about the problem begins to naturally shift. While you retain the ability to recall the facts of the incident(s), you no longer experience the intense emotions previously associated with it.

  • You might have tried traditional talk therapy, maybe even for years, and seem to be frustrated with slow or little progress with your anxiety symptoms.

    When regular talk therapy is used, it focuses on changing your thoughts but often leaves you disconnected to your emotional and physiological responses, which keeps you stuck on the anxious rollercoaster.

    ART helps you make the connection between your anxious experience cognitively and emotionally so your pain doesn’t stay stuck.

  • Post traumatic stress occurs when a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event.

    One moment becomes “frozen in time,” and remembering a trauma may feel as bad as going through it the first time because the images, sounds, smells, and feelings haven’t changed.

    As your brain visualizes the problem with eye movements, the way you think and feel about the problem begins to naturally shift. While you retain the ability to recall the facts of the incident(s), you no longer experience the intense emotions previously associated with it.

  • ART uses eye movements to mimic the REM phase of sleep and enhance ability to change.

    The REM (Rapid Eye Movement) phase of sleep is when learning and processing of emotional memories occur. The sets of eye movements used with ART “simulate” aspects of REM sleep, enhancing the ability to make positive changes to memories, and relaxing us in the process.
